Biography

Sgt. in the Spanish American War, Delaware County Division buried in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery.

Joseph G. Lauginiger and his parents were born in Germany according to 1910 Mahoning Township, Montour County census dated 5/2/1910. He was a naturalized citizen in 1896. He was 32, a puddler in an Iron Mill and was married to Catherine E Becker who was born in Pennsylvania and aged 30. They had Louisa M 10, Harry G 7, Augusta M 6, Edward 3, Carl J 2 and George W 11 mos old.

On 1920 census in Marcus Hook, it says he was born in Switzerland and was German. He immigrated 1891 and was naturalized in 1892. He was a doffer in a silk mill. Catherine’s parents were born in France. Louise 21 was a reeler in a silk mill, Harry G 17 was a stationary engineer, Augusta A 16 was a reeler in a silk mill, Edward 15 was a cake boy, Carl 12, George 10, Carolina 8, Margaret 8, Genevieve 5, Elizabeth 4 2/12, Martin J 2 2/12, Raymond 2/12.

On 6/4/1900, Joseph G Lauginiger was a Corporal stationed at the Santa Cristina Barracks in Matauzas, Cuba during the Spanish American War, Troop F, 10th Regiment, Infantry. It say he was born in May 1877 and he was 23 years old. His residence was Danville, PA. It says he was born in Bohemia and he immigrated in 1894. He was in the United States for 6 years. He was AL (not naturalized)??
