Biography

Mary Elizabeth Law was born on December 3, 1880 in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, daughter of Henry Law (1841–1926) and Marian Brown (1857–1945).[1]

LAW. - On 3rd Dec., 1880, at Bank of New Zealand, Newcastle, the wife of HENRY LAW, of a Daughter.[2]

Mary (31) married William Fitzgerald Anderson (35) (born on July 26, 1876 in Sofala, Colony of New South Wales; son of William Robert Anderson and Jessie Cowell Mylecharane) on July 13, 1912 in St Luke's Church, Mosman, New South Wales.[3]

FITZGERALD-ANDERSON—LAW.
An Interesting wedding took place on July 13, at St. Luke's Church, Mosman, when Mr. William Fitzgerald-Anderson, second son of the late Mr. William Anderson, Surveyor-General of British Administration, Central Africa, and of Mrs. Anderson, Digby, Dulwich Hill, was married to Miss Mary Elizabeth Law, elder daughter of Mr. Henry Law, of the Commonwealth Offices, Sydney. The bride's girl friends tastefully decorated the church, and the Rev. Reeves officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin charmeuse veiled with ninon, the corsage being draped with Limerick lace and pearl applique. She was the seventeenth bride to wear the beautifully embroidered tulle veil, which was arranged under a wreath of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet, which, with a handsome bangle, was the bridegroom's gift. The bridesmaids, Miss Georgie Law and Miss Mona Anderson, wore dainty white muslin frocks finished with Irish crochet and Malines lace, and mob caps. Their pink shower bouquets and gold pearl brooch and necklet were the gifts of the bridegroom. The page, Master Reggie Daltori, wore a court suit of ivory satin and also a gold scarfpin, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. Herbert Wilson acted as best man, and Mr. Eustace Binsted as groomsman. After the ceremony the guests were received at Orrville, Mosman, by Mrs. J. B. Christian and Mr. Law, and were entertained in a large marquee on the lawn, where the bride and bridegroom received the con gratulations of their friends. The bridegroom was, after the breakfast, tendered a farewell by his brotherhood friends, and later Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald-Anderson left by motor for their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a blue tailored coat and skirt and toque en suite.[4]

Mary died on June 13, 1950 in Willoughby, New South Wales, Australia, aged 69.[5] She was buried in St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery, Gordon, Ku-ring-gai Council, New South Wales.[6]

ANDERSON, Mary Elizabeth. - June 13, 1950 (suddenly), at her residence, Willoughby, widow of William F. Anderson, of Gordon, dearly loved mother of Betty and loved sister of Georgie Broun, and beloved aunt of John Broun. Privately interred.[7]
