Charles Franklin Layne (1910 - 1977)

Frank was born to Fannie Moore. His father was her brother-in-law Charles Franklin Layne. Fannie signed custody of him over to her sister Leuvenia Moore Layne. We do not know any details of what happened between Fannie and her brother-in-law. Leuvenia was unable to have children of her own. So, maybe this was to give her a child. Fannie also signed over a daughter she had while married, Margaret Veronica Williams. Or it could have been molestation or rape, as she was only 16 when she had my father. Leuvenia was a wonderful mother to him and his half sister. Both grew up to be responsible adults. My father was accomplished in many areas; electrical, carpentry, automotive, gardening. Unfortunately, he was an alcoholic. He always had a good job and was a good worker. He died shortly after he retired of mesothelomia. He never talked about his younger days or family that lived close on Cabin Creek. He was always ashamed of his birth.
