1. William was born 1778-- PROVEN- 2 sources: PARTITION of LAND/ he is named as Administrator of his father, Richard's estate along with his mother, Elizabeth Lee.
2. Marriages--2 PROVEN, well maybe, the NAME is William Lee and the dates work...
3. a WILL for him is mentioned on rootsweb TREE but no SOURCE is given, not even what STATE, Kentucky or MISSOURI..
4. First marriage at the age of 17 in KENTUCKY
5. Second marriage at the age of 44 in KENTUCKY
6. AND THEN he is said to have DIED 2 years later, leaving his wife, Charlotte with at least one KNOWN/NAMED child James, IF we can find a copy of his Will that names the wife/son...
7. The 8 kids were probably by the first wife, Elizabeth Ann Newell

ALL the kids were born in Missouri, even though William married in Kentucky in 1795 and again in 1822... (it is a 528 mile wagon ride between the 2 locations)

So it looks like, if we go by the TREES, that William and Elizabeth came to Missouri before 1800...

Biography

"Eldest son of Richard Lee and Elizabeth Scott. in 1778.  :Moved to Missouri with many of the Lee clan some before and some after, their father died in 1820. They had originally come from Virginia to Madison Co., Kentucky.

He did marry twice to Elizabeth Ann Newell in 1795 in Madison Co., Kentucky and then in 1822 to Charlotte Hensmaker.

It is believed he stayed on his younger brother(Richard Washington Lee`s) land outside Armstrong, Mo. before he died.

In this area, no established public cemeteries existed at the time of his death.

SO, he was too young to have served in the Revolutionary War and by the War of 1812 he could have served but no record is found as yet. And it is "said" that he died in 1824 so he did not serve in the Civil War either.

"On motion of Elizabeth Lee and Wm Lee asm. is granted them on the est of Richard Lee, dec'd where upon they took the necessary oath and entered into bond in the penalty of $1200 with

Grisham Lee and Noah Lee their security conditioned as the law directs.

On motion of said admrs. it is ordered that William Walker, John Herndon, Edward Stinson and Jesse Stephenson or any three of them who being first sworn do inv. and appraise the personal est. of and slaves of said dec'd (if any) and make report to this court."

THIS IS TRUE.. these are the names from the DEED of PARTITION.

The deed names all but 4 of the children listed except for the ones I have #..

All the others are listed to have received a portion of Richard Lee's property :known to be on "the east branch of the North fork of Licking Creek."

No grave stone has yet to be found for him.
