Biography

Stephen was born around 1717, probably at Rehoboth in the Province of Massachusetts Bay in New England. He was probably the son of Richard Lee and Abigail Thurber. He passed away in 1754 and is buried at Knockum Hill Burial Ground in Barrington, Rhode Island.^[1]

Stephen seemingly married his cousin Mary Thurber, daughter of her mother's brother John. This is evidenced by a land record in which Mary's brother Leonard Thurber conveyed land to Mary in 1754 out of "consideration of ye love and natural affection that I have and do bare towards Mary Lee, widow of Stephen Lee."^[2] This was seemingly her second marriage, her first being to Job Stone. Mary's brother Samuel named a son Stephen in 1744, perhaps after his cousin and/or brother-in-law.

Administration on Stephen's estate was granted to his widow Mary on 2 April 1754.^[3]
