Biography

Solomon was born between 1781 and 1790. Age 1840: 50-59[1] Solomon Lee ... He passed away after 1860.
In the 1860 Census: Solomon and Meriby are enumerated in separate dwellings - Solomon in household (#149) of son, Wilson, and Meriby (#150) with Paterick Lee, 1800, NC. A numbering error by the Census Taker.
Michael Lee is household #148.
Milton Sykes, husband of Eliza Lee, household #151.

Southern Migration

North Carolina

Bryan Lee's son, Solomon Sr., married Temperance Spearman, daughter of Andrew and Mary (Farris) Spearman. Solomon Lee served in the American Revolution in the militia from Wilmington District. He died in New Hanover County in 1818. His known children were:
  1. Bryan, who died in the War of 1812 in Louisiana;
  2. James, Jr.;
  3. William, Jr.;
  4. Sarah;
  5. Solomon, Jr., born 1784, who married Meriby Beasley[2]
  6. Bridget, born 1785, who married James Thomas, and settled in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana;
  7. Elizabeth, born 1786, who married Joseph Meredith and settled in Whitfield County, Georgia;
  8. Mary, who married a Smith;
  9. Samuel, born 1790, who married Nancy Cowart (Coward);
  10. Andrew, born ca. 1791, who married Annie Peacock; and
  11. David, born 1797 or 1798, who married Christiana Mallow.
  12. There were probably two other daughters whose names are unknown.[5]

South Carolina

Four sons of Solomon Lee, Sr. were in Barnwell District, South Carolina, in the early 1800's. Records show that Solomon, Jr.,[1] Samuel, David, and Andrew resided there.
Samuel and Nancy Cowart Lee had the following children, all born in South Carolina:
  1. Needham W., born 1814;
  2. Wilson, born 1816;
  3. Hansford D., born 1819;
  4. Barnette, born 1821;
  5. Jane, born 1823; and
  6. S. Allen, born 1827.[5]
David and Andrew Lee probably died in Barnwell County.

Georgia

Solomon Lee, Jr. and Samuel Lee moved with their families from Barnwell County, South Carolina, to Early County, Georgia, sometime after 1830.[1] Samuel Lee's son, Needham W. Lee, married Martha Ann Parker in 1835 in Early County. Solomon remained in Early County until the late 1840's, when he moved with several of his children to Simpson County, Mississippi.[5]

Mississippi

Solomon and Meriby Lee resided in Simpson, Mississippi in 1850 and 1860.[2][3] The two were not enumerated after the 1860 Census.
