Obituary

The Magee Courier / Simpson County News, Mississippi, Thursday, June 23, 2005

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at New Hebron Pentecostal Church for Mrs. Jewell Sherman, age 87, of New Hebron, who died at her daughter's residence on June 12. Rev. Dennis Davis, Rev. Terry Teddlie and Rev. Jessie Givens officiated. Interment followed in the Peacock Memorial Cemetery with Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in charge.

Active pallbearers were Derek Callaway, Devan Steverson, Shawn Steverson, Wayne Fortenberry and William Fortenberry. Honorary pallbearers were Darren Sherman, Jerome Foster and Timmy Clark.

Mrs. Sherman was a native of Simpson County, the daughter of Houston Lee and Thelma Westmoreland Lee. She was a seamstress at Crystal Springs Shirt Factory before retirement. She was a member of New Hebron Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by two sons, Shelby Sherman of Pinola and Guy Sherman of New Hebron; three daughters, Patricia Foster of New Hebron, Shirley Steverson of Hattiesburg and Sandra Fortenberry of Tylertown; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; four brothers; Mims Lee of New Hebron, George Myers, Alvin D. Myers and Royce Myers, all of Pinola; five sisters; Kathryn Taylor and Loula Mae Walker, both of Pinola, and Evelyn Lee, Helen Leach and Hilda Kersh of New Hebron.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Sherman, a daughter, Jean Clark; a son, Junior Sherman; and a great grandson, Andrew Hux.^[3]
