Francis Ellis Legg was born on 28th April 1872 at Saint Mary's, Isles of Scilly, an archipelago off the southwestern tip of Cornwall, England.[1]
He married Ethel Hooper in 1898 at Falmouth, Cornwall, England.[2] His son was noted Australian war correspondent and author, Frank Legg (1906-66), who emigrated as a 21 year-old.
From 13th January 1906, Francis served in the Royal Marines.[3]
He passed away, aged 79 years, in 1952 at Totnes, Devon.[4]
