  • Goulburn Newspaper (10/6/1993) - "Well-known Goulburn man dies, aged 52"

Former Southern Tablelands County Council finance manager and well-known Goulburn cricketer Bob Lemon died yesterday, aged 52. Mr Lemon, who retired from the county council in April, died at St John of God Hospital, where he had been in palliative care since Friday. His funeral will be held tomorrow at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Clifford St, Goulburn, at 1 pm. The son of Florence and the late Bob Lemon, he is survived by his wife, Laurie and their children David, Cathy and Mark, and his brother Philip, of Canberra. County Council chairman Cr Russell Stephenson said yesterday Mr Lemon's death was a tragic loss to the Goulburn community. He said he had been a "tremendous manager", who had risen through the ranks during his 27-year career with the council and adapted to various changes along the way. After beginning work as a clerk in December 1965 he had qualified as an accountant, supervised the introduction of the council's computer network and had become the chief accountant in July 1981. Ill health forced his retirement as the finance manager in April. Mr lemon played many seasons of first-grade cricket with the Colts, as a swing bowler and handy batsman. He was also club secretary. After retiring he continued to play with the Kookaburras social side and was involved with coaching at St Patricks College.
