I first found out about Levi Lemons though a post in the Genealogy.com Lemons forum. Lloyd Lemons posted that his grandfather John Howell Lemons had written a memoir right before he died in 1953, telling about all that he recalled of his Lemons history. Lloyd had the letter and it stated that my oldest known ancestor William Monroe Lemons was Levi's son. It also stated that Levi had other children.
My Uncle Wayne had a DNA test done which matched several men descended from John Lyming. I do know that the only person from the Leming Family that we could have come from is Daniel Leming. Daniel is the only NJ Leming man of his generation to settle in pre-statehood Tennessee. As of Oct 2013, I now know with 99% certainty that Thomas Leming and Mary Carter were the parents of Levi Lemmons/Leming.
