Biography
Native Virginian
Thomas Wilson Lester was born in 1854 to Leftwich and Christine Bishop Lester in Floyd County, Virginia. He is listed with his parents in Floyd County on the 1860 Census.[1]
On October 1, 1874 he married Rachel Altizer in Montgomery County, Virginia.[2][3] He is listed with Rachel on the 1880 Census,[4] in Floyd County, on the 1900 Census in Mercer, West Virginia,[5] and on the 1910 Census in the East River District of Mercer, West Virginia.[6] The census records indicate that Thomas and Rachel had at least nine children. It is believed that Rachel passed away in August of 1920 but a record of death is needed for confirmation. Thomas was remarried on April 24, 1930 to Virginia Mills Carr in Craig County, Virginia. He passed away in February of 1937 at the age of 82.[7]
