Biography

Anna Sibella (or Sibilla) Levering^[1] was born on 15 September 1684 in Mulheim, Germany,^[2] the sixth of twelve children and the fifth of nine daughters of John and Magdalena Boker Levering.

In the summer of 1685 she was brought to America by her parents.

She married George Miller,^[3] who resided at Chestnut Hill, above Germantown. She had four known children, three sons and one daughter whom they named Amelia.

Mr. Miller died in November 1719. He left a will dated "Sommerhausen, 21st of September, 1719." At the office of Register of Wills in Philadelphia, is recorded " A translation of George Miller's will, the original being written in Dutch. in the instrument he provides for his "wife Anna Sibella Miller, daughter of Wigard Levering." Mention is also made of "sons and daughters," but none are named.

Mention is made of property in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in 1719: Note: as well as 400 acres in Hanover Twp., that George, the eldest son, was working.^[4]

On 17 August 1764, a few weeks short of her eightieth birthday, Anna died in Germantown, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania,^[5] of unknown causes.

She was buried at the Concord Burial Ground, near to Chew's House, Germantown, where on a small headstone is the following inscription: "in Memory of SiBELLA MILLAR, who died August 17th, 1764, aged 80 years.

Anna's husband, George Miller, who resided at Chestnut Hill, above Germantown, left a will dated "Summerhausen, 21st of September, 1719." George Miller's will was written in Dutch.
