Biography

Married Elizabeth Ludlow of the famous colonial family of that name^[1][2] over the objections of the bride's family of Tories.

Served as warden of St. George’s Church in Flushing, Queens, NY, 1791 - 1794, where he is buried. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._George's_Church_(Queens) ^[3].

Reportedly had 6 sons and 5 daughters.^[4] Among them, Juan Francis Lewis, Gabriel Ludlow Lewis who married Anna Maria Champlin, mother of Maria Louisa Lewis, wife to Uriel Atwood Murdock.^[5] Mary Kennedy, daughter of Juan Lewis.^[6]
