Biography

Benjamin was born April 14, 1856 in Fountain Head, Sumner County, Tennessee. He was the son of George Lewis and Martha Clouse. [1]

Benjamin Lewis married Florence Bruce on August 20, 1880 in Sumner, Tennessee. [2]They were the parents of George, Alice and Martha.

After he and Florence divorced he married Eliza Clouse. They were married September 2, 1893 in Wilson, Tennessee. [3]They were the parents of Wade, Ollie, Hugh and Mary.

He passed away August 27, 1935 in Robertson County, Tennessee. [4][1]Benjamin was laid to rest in Owens Chapel Cemetery, Springfield, Robertson, Tennessee, United States. [5]

Research Notes

His death certificate lists his year of birth as 1850 but he was 5 years of age on the 1860 census. I believe it was actually 1855 but his findagrave memorial has 1856. Adcock is listed as the maiden name of his mother on his death certificate which is a mystery. Her maiden name is listed as Clouse on her marriage record. I am related by dna to several people from the Clouse line.
