Joseph Lightfoot was born in England.

Joseph was born in 1833, the son of Henry Lightfoot and Jane Calvert.

According to the 1901 Census, he immigrated in 1834.

He married Elizabeth Inch in 1871. Their marriage record reads:

Joseph Lightfoot, 35, residing in Brook, Ontario, born in England, bachelor, yeoman, son of Henry and Jane Lightfoot, married

Elizabeth Ann Inch, 22, residing in Metcalfe, Ontario, born in England, spinster, daughter of Joseph and Mary Inch,

On September 22, 1871, at Metcalfe, Ontario
