Biography

Josaphine E. "Josie" Liles was born in 1866 in Tennessee to John Liles (1836-1911) and Nancy Laura (Akin) Liles (1835-1901). She married Stephen J. Vaden on November 21, 1886 in Faulkner County, Arkansas and they had three children, John Sam Vaden (1887-1946), Irl Vaden (b. 1891), and Myrtle Pearl (Vaden) Yarbrough (1895-1984). Stephen Vaden died at 35, after which Josie married Frank Nicholson, having two more daughters, Metra B. Nicholson (b. 1897) and Clara C. Nicholson (b. 1902).

Josie passed away on October 16, 1961 in White County, Arkansas and is buried in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Faulkner County, Arkansas.
