"Charles Francis Lincoln, father of Alice Lincoln, was born in Massachusetts and went to Virginia in the early fifties, when 21 years of age, and lived there until his death. He carried with him to his adopted state the manufacturing spirit of his earlier state and started the first cheese factory, broom factory, and plow factory in Virginia. When he died he was a member of the well known firm of Look & Lincoln of Marion, Virginia, which business was started in 1861, and is successfully managed by his three sons at the present time. Charles F. Lincoln married Martha Jane Woodward of Montgomery Co. who was a great granddaughter of John McCluer of Rockbridge Co. Virginia who fought throughout the American Revolution."
