His father Robert wrote his will on 21 April 1572. John was to receive £4 in money as a legacy, to be paid out of the houses and lands which were left to his brother William. At that time, John did not appear to be married and no children were mentioned in this will.
His mother Cicely wrote her will on 17 February 1592/3, by which time John was married and had the following seven children (his marriage date estimated at around 1580): [1]
Robert Lyncon the sonne of John Lyncon bequeathed 5 shillings in money
Cicelie Lyncone the daughter of the said John Lyncone my sonne bequeathed 5 shillings in money
John Lincone, the sonne of John Lincone my sonne bequeathed 2 shillings in money
Thom[a]s Lincone, the sonne of John Lincone my sonne bequeathed 2 shillings in money
Richard Lincone, the sonne of John Lincone my sonne bequeathed 2 shillings in money
Anne Lincone, the daughter of John Lincone my sonne bequeathed 2 shillings in money
Elizabeth Lincone, the daughter of John Lincone my sonne bequeathed 2 shillings in money
John himself was to receive a total of 80 shillings (£4) in money from his brothers George and Hugh in recompense for them each receiving a parcel of land. No mention was made of John's wife.
Children Robert and Cicelie were likely to be her godchildren as they were named separately from the rest of the children and also had substantially larger legacies.
It is likely that of the last five children named, John, Thomas and Richard were listed in birth order, as were Anne and Elizabeth.
John wrote his will on 10 March 1617/8 when he was "sick of body". He was buried at Hingham on 23 March 1617/8: [2]
