EDUCATED IN FRANCE UNTIL RELIGIOUS WARS INTERRUPTED, THEN FINISHED HIS EDUCATION AT CAMBRIDGE. SECRETARY OF STATE FOR LIFE. FINANCIAL GENIUS. ACQUIRED TERRITORY FOR THE LINDSAY FAMILY, MENMUIR, LETHNOT, LOCHLEE, DRUMCAIRN in FORFASHIRE, BALNIELL, PITCORTHIE, BALCARRES, nr. COLINSBURGH in FIFE. IN 1595 HE BUILT A MANSION AT BALCARRES. HE BATTLED WITH THE CALVINISTS OVER THE KIRK, AND WAS CHANCELLOR OF ST ANDREWS UNIVERSITY 1597-98. HE WAS ALSO SOMETIME AMBASSADOR TO FRANCE.
HE WAS BURIED IN THE PARISH KIRK IN KILCONQUHAR, SCOTLAND.
