Gerda was born in Ljusne in 1889 as the daughter of Gustav Lindström and his wife Augusta Lindgren.[1] She was just a baby when the family moved to Skutskär.[2] In 1906 she followed her parents south to Hovmantorp parish in Småland.[3] They lived in Lessebo.[4] The girls in the family photo would be, from left to right: Maja, Gerda, Elisabet and Ingeborg.
According to her obit Gerda started her education at Ersta diakoni in 1908. Presumably she was still registered with her parents. According to the household record Gerda went to Stockholm (Katarina) in 1910.[5] In May 1911 she arrived in Norrköping, to work as a nurse and deaconess at the (maternity) hospital.[6] She stayed there until 1917, when she went to Malmö in May.[7]
In Malmö she worked at the Children's hospital an husmor (matron) from 1917 to 1933.[8][9][10][11]
In September 1933, Gerda Lindström moved to Falun, to work as a matron at the nursing home there.[12]
Since Gerda was a deaconess she never married (deaconesses were pledged to celibacy).
Gerda Lindström died at Ersta diakoni in 1952.[13]
