Research Notes
- Note: Mrs. Kathleen Lipe Clayton, 88, formerly of 255 Brown Road, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center. Born March 18, 1918, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Gip Leroy and Nannie Long Lipe. She attended Farm Life school and was a life member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church. Mrs. Clayton retired from Cannon Mills in 1981. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Joseph Alexander Clayton, on March 19, 1962. Survivors include sons, Dennis Wrenn Clayton and Gary Leroy Clayton, both of China Grove; granddaughter, Alicia Michele Kennedy; and great-grandchildren, Cody Robinson, Austin Kennedy and Sarah Kennedy. Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday in Mount Moriah Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. Jospeh Tallent, pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove. The remainder of the time, they will be at the home of son, Gary, at 265 Brown Road. Memorials for Mrs. Clayton may be made to Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, 750 Mount Moriah Church Road, China Grove, NC 28023.
