1951 OBITUARY: JOHN LITZ - Funeral services for John H. Litz, 69 were held Tuesday May 22 - 1:30 at the Presbyterian Church, the Rev. R.P. Kaehler of the Congregational Church officiated. The Mehlhaff Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements. Mr. Litz, a long time resident and produce man of Parkston, passed away at the St. Joseph's Hospital at Mitchell Saturday morning May 19 at 4:00 am. He was a member of the Parkston Commercial Club and of the Presbyterian Church. John H. Litz was born July 19, 1881 at Odessa, Russia. He came to this country and the Parkston vicinity in 1884, and in 1900 he came to the city of Parkston and since 1910 has engaged in the produce business. He was married December 9, 1916 to Lacey Shielde Kelley who survives him. Also among the survivors is a daughter, Delya, Mrs. Carlton Clemmons of Indianapolis, Ind.; a step-son Alfred Kelley of Wakauss, Ind.; a step-daughter LaVerna Kelly of Merchantville, NJ; four half-sisters, Sophie, Mrs. John Judge of Puyellup, Wash.; Emelia, Mrs. Fred Kline of Mercer, ND; Alvina, Mrs. John Mehlhaff of American Falls, Idaho; Christine, Mrs. John Swartz of San Francisco, Calif.; and a brother Christ Litz of Wellington, Idaho; a half-brother, Albert Renke of Paso Robles, Calif. and two grandchildren.
