Martha Washington Woodrum (nee Lucas) was born on February 22, 1922.
Martha's mother, Nora Mae Lucas (nee Pruitt), died when Martha was six months old. Martha was raised by her father and had four siblings, Oka, Olive, Charles, and Wade.
Martha was unable to attend school. She had to pick cotton on her family farm instead. She never learned to read. Though, she did learn to sign her name.
She married Alvin Madison Woodrum on April 28, 1941. They had two children, Jennetta Woodrum and Alvin Eugene "Gene" Woodrum.
Martha believed education was important and made sure that her two children, Jennetta and Gene, were both able to go to school and get an education.
Martha's hobbies included fishing and honky-tonking
