Richard was born in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England on 13th July 1867. He was the son of Charles Richard Luce and his wife Mary Luce (nee Visger). [1]
Richard was educated at Clifton College, Bristol and then studied Christ's College, Cambridge, where he graduated in medicine in 1893. After training at Guy's Hospital in London he moved to Derby as a consultant at Derby Royal Infirmary. [2]
On 11th February 1897 he married Mary Elizabeth Emmeline Irene Matilda Scott in St Keverne, Cornwall, England. [3] [4]
They had three children: Rachel (born 1897), Charles (1900) and Kathleen (1901).
Sir Richard died in Romsey, Hampshire aged 84 on 21st February 1952. [5]
