Biography

Jean Baptiste L’Eveille was born 30 June 1735, son of Pierre Laurent L'Eveille dit Locat and Marie Barbe Parent; and was baptized 1 July 1735 at St-François-de-Sales, l’Île-Jésus—his sponsors were Charles Giron and Marie Françoise la Polliard.^[1] Jean Baptiste Locat died pas surveille, aged 40 [sic], and was buried 19 April 1787 in the cemetery of St-Henri-de-Mascouche, L'Assomption in the presence of Pascal Renaud and Denis Villeneuvre.^[2]

Jean Baptiste Léveillé dit Loca married, first, 12 January 1761 at St. Henri-de-Mascouche, Marie Rose Vaudry, daughter of Gabriel Vaudry and his wife, Marie-Agnès Forget dite Despatis (whom were both deceased at the time of her marriage). The witnesses were François Makkay [Francis McKay?], L_____, Guillaume Makkay [William McKay?] (Lieutenants in Royal American Regiment), François Hyacinthe Terrien, and Nicolas Picard.^[3]

Marie Rose Agnes Elizabeth Vaudry was born 11 October 1743, daughter of Gabriel Vaudry and his wife, Marie Agnès Forget dite Despatis; and was baptized at St-Charles de Lachanie, L'Assomption parish, 13 October 1743—her sponsors were Gabriel Goubout and Elisabeth Picard.^[4] She died 23 October 1761, aged 19 [sic]; and was buried at St-Henri di Mascouche, 24 October 1761, in the presence of Jean Baptiste Mauray and Louis Antoine Gaudaire.^[5]

Jean Baptiste Léveillé dit Loca, veuf de defuncte Marie Agnes Vaudry, married, second, at Mascouche, 22 November 1762, Marie Charlotte Renaud. The witnesses were Joseph Beauchamp (Captain), Pierre L’Eveille dit Loca, Pierre Boismer, and François Denault.^[6]

Marie Charlotte Renaud was born 10 September 1742, daughter of Michel Renaud and Marie-Élisabeth Rochon; and was baptized the next day in St. Charles-de-Lachenaie, L’Assomption—her sponsors were Michel Beauchamp and Charlotte Forget.^[7] She died 7 September 1812, femme de Jean Baptiste Loka cultivateur, and was buried the next day at Mascouche in the presence of Jean Guindon and Simon Duprat.^[8]

Jean Baptiste Locat, husband of Marie Charlotte Renaux (sic), passed away on 17 Aug 1787 being given the age of around 49 years old on the record. His burial was two days later the cemetery of Saint-Henri de Mascouche.^[9]
