Biography

We get the name of William MaGorman from his son's marriage certificate. Since his son was born in Ireland, it is safe to assume that William was a resident of Ireland, as well. William's son, James MaGorman was born circa 1849, and when he got married, at the age of 21, was living in Scotland.

According to Ireland, Catholic Parish Registers, 1740-1900, William MaGorman, born 1824, who died in October, 1887, in Baileborough, County Cavan, Ireland ^[1]

Mrs Magorman was buried October 7, 1873, in Knockbride County Caven, Ireland. ^[2]

At least a million people are thought to have emigrated as a result of the Great Famine or the Great Hunger, which was a period of mass starvation, disease, and emigration in Ireland between 1845 and 1852 ^[3]
