He was born about 1670 in what later became the United Kingdom and his parents were Penelope and Daniel MacDonnell.
John McDannel or McDaniel or MacDonnell or McDonald married about 1696 in Virginia to Rebecca Williams and they had a son, John Landon McDaniel.
Research Notes
A source is needed to confirm his locations ...
- b: Scotland ? OR
- b: Ennis, Clare, Ireland ?
- d: Ireland ? OR
- b: Richmond County, Virginia ?
Some researchers think that about 1690, he emigrated to Virginia where he was killed by Indians about 1704. [1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.

At great expense I have hired a professional genealogist to explore this connection.
They report ... based on the above mentioned "oblique statement" in O'Hart's Irish Pedigrees ..
that they too "feel" that he died in Ireland.
This does not of course effect the myriad lines descending down from the part of "him" or his two purported brothers that
lived in Virginia, which are likely correct by DNA. The problem is, what was his (their) ancestry back across the sea?
I am Donna McDaniel and after researching a direct line through the men of my family, it brings me here. I have revolutionary war pension requests from James McDaniel and it shows McDaniels, McDonald and McDaniel all within this document signed by James.
