Donald MacInnes was born on New Years Day, 1836 on Barra in Scotland's Outer Hebrides. His parents resided at Borve and he was baptized at St. Brendan Catholic Church on January 3, 1836.[1]
In the census of 1841 Donald is listed with his parents and three sisters, Anne, Jannet and Mary, at Borve.[2]
For the census of 1851 Donald is employed as a stable-boy in the household of the Church of Scotland minister, Alexander Nicolson. [3]
For the 1861 census Donald has moved to the employ of Archibald MacDonald at Allasdale (Athalasdal) and is listed as a ploughman (unmarried).[4]
In the census of 1891 Donald is in the household of his sister, Mary, and her husband, John Galbraith. He is listed as an Agricultural labourer. [5]
On March 16, 1911 passes away at Borve, no known cause. Informant of his death is his niece, Mary Galbraith. [6]
Although the census of 1891 records him as a widower, there is no evidence that Donald ever married. His civil death registration lists him as single.
