Norman Macleod - born and died 18th century. Unclear details and no evidence apart from hearsay - may have been joiner and/or galley maker for the chief MacLeod based at Colbost. Reputed to have fought at Culloden (with a battleaxe!) for the Prince as part of the Raasay branch.
The family is supposed to be of the Clann Alasdair Ruaidh, the same branch which the poetess Mairi Ni'n Alasdair Ruaidh, that branch which descended from William the Cleric. The eldest sons reportedly held the land of Colbost rent free as the hereditary galley makers to the Dunvegan MacLeods but no evidence has been found in the Castle Muniments His father is said to be a Donald MacLeod
