Biography

Sarah Macon was born in 1835 in South Carolina. The identity of her parents is not yet known. It is assumed that she was born enslaved, although that presumption is not yet documented.

Sarah and James Gustavus had the following known children:

There is not yet any documentation regarding Sarah's enslavement. But there were slaves owned by some members of the Gustavus family in Copiah County, Mississippi. Some possibilities:
