Biography

Sarah Macon was born in 1835 in South Carolina. The identity of her parents is not yet known. It is assumed that she was born enslaved, although that presumption is not yet documented.

Sarah and James Gustavus had the following known children:

The 1870 Census[1] shows her at age 35 with her husband and five children in Copiah County, Mississippi.

Sarah and James solemnized their marriage on 30 Apr 1874 in Copiah County, Mississippi.[2]
