Biography

Church of Ireland Clergy

William was born in 1798. He was the son of William Magee and Elizabeth Moulson.

He was educated by Dr Leney and entered Trinity College Dublin on 2 November 1812, aged 14. B.A. 1818, M.A. 1825. [1]

He was collated Prebendary of Swords (St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin) on 29 June 1831 and installed on the same day. He retained the prebend until his death in 1867.

Rector of Dunganstown, county Wicklow for nearly 40 years.

William married Catherine Elizabeth Foot, daughter of Jeffrey Foot of Holly Park, Rathfarnham, co Dublin and Eleanor Williams, on 7 November 1827.

On the 7th instant, at the Church of New White church, by his Grace the Archbishop of Dublin, the Rev. William Magee, son of his Grace, to Catherine Elizabeth Foot, daughter of the late Jeffrey Foot, of Holly-park, Esq.

  4. Charles, b. 10 May 1834, Dunganstown, co Wicklow, died 15 July 1855.
  5. John Francis b. 1836, Dunganstown, co Wicklow, died at sea.
  6. Elizabeth Anne, 26 February 1838, Dunganstown, co Wicklow
  7. Henry, b. 10 October 1839, Dunganstown, co Wicklow, married Trophina Triphook on 10 July 1867.
  8. Katherine Sophia b. 15 July 1841, Dunganstown, co Wicklow, married Francis Rawson Moira Crozier of Carrickbrennan, co Dublin, son of Thomas Crozier.
  9. Frederick, b. 10 April 1844, Dunganstown, co Wicklow, died in Audstralia 1870.

He died in 1867.
