Biography

Nettie May was born in July 1863 in the Minnesota, United States. She was the daughter of William Maloney and Sarah Cater. In 1880 the family lived in Fremont Wionna, Minnesota. She had six siblings: William, Alice, Charles, Minnie, Jennie and Harry.

Nettie married Lewis Jefferson 'Jeff' Rote on 6 January 1889 in Olmsted, Minnesota, US. Their children were Allie, Harry and Sarah. They lived in La Mars, Richland, North Dakota in 1900. Before 1906 they moved to 28-23-W2 near Lockwood, Saskatchewan to homestead. They retired in the village of Lockwood. Nettie passed away in May 1939 in Lockwood and was buried in Boulder Lake Cemetery northwest of Nokomis, Saskatchewan.
