George was a member of the Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain

George Manwell, son of George Manwell and Sarah Mowlem, was born about 1812 in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England, United Kingdom. He was baptized April 4, 1813 in Swanage, Dorset. ^[1]

George became a member of the The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain on the 1 February 1835 as confirmed in the Society's book, “Members of The Royal Society of Musicians 1738-1984” on Page 96

The following was written by George on his recommendation paper at the time of his application and is included in the members handbook.

Has studied & practised Music in the Choir of Westminster Abbey and elsewhere for more than seven years, is a single man. He is Organist of St John’s Church Paddington, Professor of the Piano Forte, and has a considerable connection in private Scholars.

George married Leonora Webster Betts November 18, 1841 at Saint John the Evangelist, Westminster, Middlesex. ^[4]

In 1845 George (age 32) was a Professor of Pianoforte, living at 12 Upper Southwick Street, in London. ^[5]

In 1851 George (age 38) was a Professor of Music. He and Leonora were living with their children in Paddington, Middlesex. ^[6]

In 1871 George and his family were living in Paddington, Middlesex. ^[7]

George died November 10, 1876 in Kensington, Middlesex, age 66. ^[8] His Will was probated December 20, 1876 in London, leaving everything to his widow, Leonora. ^[9]
