According to Lester Dunbar Mapes' paper: Col Weygant "marries William to a first wife Rose _______ in 1724 who was mother of William, Jr., in 1725... These dates were supposedly arrived at as follows: A William Jr." had to be provided to be the holder of land in the deed of 1746, hence had to be born at least 21 years before, or in 1725; one year before that for the parents' marriage was 1724, and 21 years before that again for the father's birth was 1703."1 William Mapes was born in 1703. He married Phoebe Rose in 1724. William Mapes died on 26 February 1788.
