Nathaniel was born in 1837 in Pulaski, Giles County, Tennessee. He was the son of Phillip Marbut and Euodias Thomas. He married Melinda Jane Browning in Lawrence County, Missouri in 1859 and passed away in Barry County, Missouri in 1910.
