Charlotte Markel was born on July 4, 1932, in New Hradec, North Dakota to Tony and Emma Markel. She attended grade school in New Hradec, ND, St. Joseph's Catholic School, Dickinson and graduating in 1950 from Dickinson High School. Charlotte then attended St Alexius School of Nursing and obtained her R.N. distinction. She continued her formal education by attending Carroll College for a B.S. degree in Nursing and Catholic University, Washington D.C. for a MA in Nursing and finally University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich. for her P.H.D. Charlotte spent most of her life in the Portland, Ore. area, working as an instructor in Hospital Administration and Nursing fields.
After her retirement, she returned to Dickinson and cared for her mother and assisted her sister at the Paragon Bowl for the last ten years. Charlotte loved being with her family and spoiling her nieces and nephews any chance she could. She enjoyed traveling the U.S and abroad and spending time with her special friend Judge Gordon Thompson of Williston.
