Mrs. Roxie Mae Manning Succumbs At Hospital
Mrs. Roxie Mae Manning, 73, 725 Centennial street, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday in Schneck Medical Center. She had been a patient wince March 11. She had been ill for three months.
A native of Jackson County, where she was born April 29, 1888, the daughter of teh late Samuel and Margaret Hovis Martin, Mrs. Manning resided in this county throughout her life. She was married August 19, 1906, in Brownstown, to John H. Manning, who preceded her in death in 1960.
A devoted member of First Baptist Church, Mrs. Manning was a member of the Woman's Missionary Society of the church and of the Loyal Daughters Sunday School Class. Her cheerful and kindly disposition endeared her to a host of friends who join with relatives in mourning her death.
Survivors include seven children: Raymond Manning, of Crothersville; Mrs. Alice Eddy, of Columbus, Mrs. Edith Maschino, of this city; John Manning, of Paris Crossing; Leo Manning, of this city; Robert Manning, of Columbus; and Mrs. Carolyn Bennett, of Indianapolis. Thirteen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive, along with two brothers, Samuel Martin, of Sanborn, and Stanley Martin of Edwardsport, and one sister, Mrs. Fred Robertson, of this city. Two sisters and one brother preceded Mrs. Manning in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Walter Moseley, of Uniontown, officiating, and Dr. Stewart Silver, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Edward Bennett, of Indianapolis, son-in-law of the late Mrs. Manning, assisting. Burial in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Burkholder Funeral Home.
