Henry Martin, wife and 2 children were living in Strode's Station for protection against the Indians. When the Indians attacked, the men were working in the fields. The women and children collected in one of the block-house. The men feeling the brunt of the attack believed saving the women was impossible. Mr. Henry Martin went alone to the block-house and pleaded with them to open the door. He then insisted that his wife and 2 children leave with him and they entered a cane brake eluding the Indians. Strode's station was burnt and all other slain according to this report. Henry Martin remained in Kentucky until Martha, the third child was born when he moved to Greene County Ohio.[1]
