Biography

Mary Emily Martin was born in 1832 and married Edmund Henry in 1853 in Tyler County, Virginia (now in NW West Virginia), United States. In 1870 she was living in Keosauqua, Van Buren, Iowa with her husband and 7 children and a nephew.[1] According to the 1880 US census records,[2] the widowed, 48-year-old Mary was back in West Virginia living with her parents. Subsequent records found in Perry, Iowa, indicated that she died in Indianapolis in 1908, possibly while visiting a daughter, (records indicate that her daughter Etta's husband died in Indianapolis in 1907[3] although he was buried in Herndon, Guthrie, Iowa[4] - just west of Perry) and is buried in Perry, but there is no available record of where her husband, Edmund, died and is buried.
