Charles Lynden “Chuck” Martin, age 84, passed away Jan. 5, 2016, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Chuck was born Jan. 18, 1931 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Howard Lindor and Mabelle Louise (Richmond) Martin.
He married Eileen “Jeannie” Marie Stephens on Feb. 11, 1950. Chuck was a manufacturer’s sales representative in the electrical industry for most of his career. His family moved to Albuquerque in 1971, coming from Illinois.
Chuck was a resident of Rio Rancho for 30 years. Chuck was active in his church, the Optimist Club and Rotary International. His hobbies included fly fishing and golfing.
He is remembered for his signature smile and his friendly personality. He was definitely a “people person.” The expression, “he never met a stranger,” was a fitting description for Chuck. Wherever he went, he seemed to always meet someone he knew, or he struck up a conversation with people and added to his list of friends.
Chuck is survived by his dear wife of nearly 66 years, Eileen “Jeannie” Martin; daughters, Renee Crewe and husband Doug of Rio Rancho, Kelly O’Mara and husband Sean of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Danny, Caitlan, K.C., Katee, Meagan, Tyler, Kerrie, Sean Jr., Amanda and Keara; and nine great grandchildren, Drew, Jacson, Liam, Rorik, Max, Reese, Ryann, Brody and Harper.
He is also survived by his beloved dog and “best” friend, Ginger.
Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Martin, in 2011.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Road SE in Rio Rancho.
