Eliza (Massingham) Pearson was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

Eliza Catherine (Kitty) Massingham was born in 1887, her birth registered that year in Geelong, the daughter of George Massingham and Mary McWilliams. ^[1]

Marriage. In 1914, in Victoria, Eliza married Charles Leonard Pearson. ^[3]

The marriage of Mr. Charles Leonard Pearson, only son of Mrs. C. W. Pearson, of 21 Erin-street, East Melbourne, with Miss Catherine (Kitty) Massingham, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Massingham, of "Piyawola," Fairfield-grove, Caulfield, was celebrated by Rev. H. B. Hewitt at St. Phillips's Church, Abbotsford, on Thursday, 30th July, at 7 p.m. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore ... The bridesmaids, Misses Freda Pearson (sister of bridegroom), Nellie and Madge Massingham (sisters of bride) wore ... The best man was Mr. Cyril Davies. ... ... The happy pair left for Melbourne by the s.s. OOnah the following day for Tasmania, where they are to reside. ^[4]

Katherine Pearson passed away in 1980. Her death was registered in New South Wales, with the forenames of her father indexed as George Leake. ^[5]

Since she was known as Kitty, it is assumed that, at the time of her death, the informant believed Katherine to be her proper name. Death and funeral notices, published 18th September, 1980, in the Sydney Morning Herald advised that Katherine Pearson, late of Mosman, had died 16th September, 1980, and was to be cremated on that day (18th).^[6]
