Marie Mathieu was born on 12 Nov 1867 and was baptized the next day in Saint-François-d'Assise parish in Beauceville, Beauce, Québec, Canada. She was the daughter of Seraphin Mathieu and Adéline Pilet. Sponsors at Marie's baptism were Jean Mathieu and Sophie Bourque.

Marie married Georges (Octave) Roy on 20 Oct 1885 in Saint-François-d'Assise parish in Beauceville. The couple received a dispensation for the third degree of consanguinity. There was one known child born into this marriage.
