Biography
Claimed by some as the wife of Daniel Winchester.
Controversy surrounds Roseanna's maiden name with some claiming MATTHEWS (a sister to Daniel's brother, Douglas', wife, Sarah Matthews). However, in Roseanna's case for her late husband's pension, a witness stated that "her name before she married Daniel was Ashley",[1]
It has also been claimed that Daniel was married twice, with his first wife being Roseanna Matthews, and his second wife, his survivor, Roseanna Ashley. No proof or source information for these claims have yet to be found.
It is believed that Daniel Winchester's wife's maiden name was, in fact, Rosanna Ashley. See: Rosanna Ashley
