Biography

Margaret (Maupin) Shifflett is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.
This profile is part of the Maupin Name Study.

Margaret was born about 1796. She is the daughter of Gabriel Maupin and Susan Bailey.

She married Joshua Shifflett on 30 Jun 1814 in Madison County, Kentucky.[1] Their children:

  1. Allen Shifflett, (1815–Deceased)
  2. Sidney Shifflett, (1817–Deceased)
  3. John Shifflett, (1819–Deceased)
  4. Margaret F Shiflett, (1821–1900)
  5. Susan Shifflett, (1825–1890)
  6. Mary Jane Shifflett, (1828–1902)

Joshua died before 1843.

The 1840 Census[2] shows her as head of the household in Madison County, Kentucky.

The 1860 Census[3] shows her at age 64 in the home of her son, John, in Division 1, Madison County, Kentucky.

The 1880 Census[4] shows her at age 84 in the home of her son, John, in Glade, Madison County, Kentucky.
