Biography

William Maupin is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.

William Thomas Maupin was born in 1828. He is the son of Micajah Maupin and Elizabeth Bottom.

He married "Nancy T. Fausett" on 24 Nov 1849 in Taylor County, Kentucky.^[1] Their children:

The 1850 Census^[2] show "Thomas" and Nancy Maupin living in Taylor County, Kentucky.

The 1860 Census^[3] shows "W T" and "Nancy T" Maupin in Hart County, Kentucky with eight young children.

The 1870 Census^[4] shows William and Nancy in Harmony, Adair County, Kentucky with 9 children.

The 1880 Census^[5] shows that Nancy is widowed, the head of household, and living in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, Kentucky. So William's date of death is before 1880.

Research Notes

• The Shaffett Maupin book, cited below, gives his birth date as "ca. 1816", but the three available censuses consistently give an estimated birth year of 1828-1829

• The Shaffett Maupin book, cited below, says his wife is Nancy T. Fawcett is the daughter of Robert and Fanny Chandler Fawcett. WikiTree has such a profile, Robert Faucett with wife Fanny Frances Chandler, with no documentation other than Ancestry Trees.

While Family Search does not list any parents for her, they do give parents for his brothers wives, who are supposedly her sisters, namely Robert and Anna Stewart Faussett. WikiTree has such a profile, Robert Fawcett with wife Anna (Stewart) Fawcett, with no documentation at all.

These two Roberts may be the same person who married Anna and then Fanny, but until more is learned from reliable sources, they cannot be connected.
