Harriett was born about 1857. She passed away after 1859. Her surname McBain is spelled as it was shown in the advertisement for the auction.

Slave Owner

She was a slave held by Ignatius (McBain) McBaine (1808-1853) and after his death, his estate. She was among a group of slaves sold at auction before the courthouse in Columbia, Missouri, on January 2, 1860, for the purpose of the monetary proceeds from the auction to be distributed among the heirs. The names of the slaves to be sold were shown in an inventory published on December 23, 1859 (below).
