Biography

John was probably born about 1750 in Ireland.

He married Hannah.

Birth

1750 an estimate based on grandson's birth date!!
According to York County History, John was originally from Ireland, had emigrated to Pennsylvania and fought for the Crown in the Revolution, and later removed to Canada, where he and his wife worked for the government.
John was a Queen's Ranger under John Graves Simcoe. He fought in the Revolutionary War under Simcoe and according to the history books, went back to Ireland after the British lost.
His service is supported by a letter from John Graves Simcoe in 1792, after he was made Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada, saying to the Secretary of War, that he had enlisted John McBride as a Sergeant in the Queen's Rangers, and brought him [to Canada] with him, and that John had fought under him in the ["last war"].
John & Hannah had worked for the Legislature of Upper Canada, John was doorkeeper and Hannah catered meals for the House of Assembly.
