David was born about 1809 at the family plantation (Peachland). David was the child of John McCaleb and Maria Collins. On 21 Dec 1828, in Claiborne, Mississippi, he married Ann Matilda Dunbar (1810-1881). They settled in Adams where they had 4 children.
James Dunbar McCaleb b. 1830 - d. 1892, m. Mary Elizabeth McCaleb (paternal 1st cousins as fathers were brothers)
Elizabeth Bisland McCaleb b. 1832 - d. 1899, m. Isaac Washington Burch
Catherine H. McCaleb b. 1836 MS - d. 1919 LA, m. John Moore McCaleb (paternal 1st cousins as fathers were brothers)
William McCaleb b. abt. 1838 - d. UNK
David passed away in 1839. It is unknown where he is buried. Although, it is most likely at the family home.
