Biography

"Bob" John Edward joined the seminary in 1909 (Wonersh Junior Seminary) and left in August 1914.

On Oct 13, 1914, "Bob" John Edward enlisted in 47th (2nd London) Division Territorial Army

On May 26, 1915, "Bob" John Edward is wounded. "G.S.W. in Thigh" in the Battle of Festubert 15-25 May, 1915.

On Feb 28, 1916, "Bob" John Edward was discharged. His family appears to be living in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England.

Bob is buried at Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England.

Patrick Crook wrote on Oct 18, 2002: "Bob left the seminary at the outbreak of WW1 only to be wounded in 1915 in France. He had been a keen sportsman and as the damage was permanent (I think it was a tendon), he lost this facility. During WW2 he rented Malvern Cottage in Grendon whilst he stayed down in Surrey in the Country's Highways dept. as Chief Draughtsman. Malvern Cottage was the home of Sadie (my mother's sister), Jack & John Skevington until around 1937/8 and was where your father [Hughie McCarthy] took a 9.5mm film when we came to stay with them. I am pretty sure that both you [Patrick McCarthy] and Molly are on this very short film as well as myself, Mary & Caroline. I still have the film, rather damaged from the toy projector I had, and an 8mm copy."
