Biography

Maud E McDonald was born in 1897 in Glebe, New South Wales (Australia). She was the firstborn child of George McDonald and Margaret Small. [1] Her newly-wed parents travelled from New South Wales' Mid North Coast to Sydney for the birth, following which they returned with their daughter to the Mid North Coast, making their home around Wingham, Taree and Nabiac. Maud eventually had two younger sisters and three younger brothers (plus a sister and a brother who each died in infancy). Her mother died in 1920 so, presumedly, Maud then assisted her father in raising her youngest siblings (this may explain the comparatively late age at which Maud married).

Maud, then aged 32 years, married George Dalley in Broken Hill, New South Wales in 1929. [2]
